Definitions:
First Aid: Treatment given on site to an injury of such mirnor nature that it can be treated onsite without cost to WSIB.
HealthCare: Treatment or service to work-related injury/illness which requires treatment or service by a healthcare provider (i.e.,physician, chiropractor etc..) resulting in a cost to the WSIB but does not result in lost time from work as defined by WSIB.
Lost Time: Time lost from work beyond the day of injury, due to a work-related injury/illness, requiring the WSIB to make payment in lieu of lost wages.
The following is the procedure to follow in case of injury at work:
Step 1: Seek first aid immediately if needed.
Step 2: Tell your supervisor about the injury.
Step 3: Fill out an Employee Incident/Accident Form completely and fax to the Human Resources at 613-732-9524 within 48 hours of the accident/incident.
Step 4: If you seek healthcare bring a copy of the Treatment Memo
and
WSIB Functional Abilities form
Step 5: If you have lost time beyond the day of the injury or seek medical attention after filling in and sending an accident/incident form you must inform the Human Resources so that a form 7 can be sent into WSIB.
